“Police crime stats show that there had been a whopping 17% increase in Casey and many of these crimes were directly related to drug abuse,” Ms Peulich said.
Ms Peulich suggested that a far more practical solution would be that closed circuit TV be installed so that those who trade drugs could actually be caught and the law exercised to prevent further harm.
“If we further soften policy, we can be looking at drug injecting rooms in Cranbourne, Berwick, Narre Warren and Hallam,” Ms Peulich said.
A message that using an illegal substance would be supported by taxpayer money is no way to wage a war on drugs.
“This proposal does nothing to address the scourge of drug use in the City of Casey,” Ms Peulich said.
