Representing over 230 multicultural organisations across our state, the ECCV provides advocacy, awareness and education programs to Victoria’s multicultural community.
The highlight of the ECCV calendar was undoubtedly the State-wide Conference, held in Ballarat in November, 2016. I had the privilege of addressing the 300 attendees with a speech emphasising the role of young Victorians from multicultural backgrounds in the context of intergenerational relations.
As the daughter of immigrants fleeing an oppressive, left-wing regime I believe that multiculturalism touches the heart of our great state and nation. The face of Australia has been shaped by migration but our Australian story is an inspiration for a better life.
I would like to take this opportunity to reaffirm the Liberal National Coalition’s commitment to multiculturalism, seeing it as one of Victoria’s great advantages, especially as we engage with a globalised world.
Fundamental to this mosaic of success are a set of core characteristics: a strong work ethic, disciplined pursuit of education and unshakeable faith and optimism in democracy and equality of opportunity for all.
I look forward to continue working with the ECCV and wish them the best of luck for the year ahead.
