Last year small businesses across the Cities of Kingston, Monash, Greater Dandenong, Frankston, Casey, Knox, Glen Eira and beyond were forced to endure the damaging impact of the decision by the Andrews Labor Government, to declare a new public holiday. Friday 30th September will be the second occurrence of the Grand Final Parade Holiday.
Last year the Andrews Governments own assessment of its Grand Final Parade Public Holiday found it would cost Victoria as much as $898 million per year.
Businesses across the state have pleaded with the Andrews Government to rethink its reckless decision to impose the extra public holiday. Unfortunately, as with so many of its other decisions, the Andrews Government has chosen to ignore what is in the best interests of Victoria and Victorians.
I ask the people of Monash to join me in again asking Daniel Andrews to listen to our small business owners and their employees, and to reverse this job destroying decision.
