Quotes attributed to Inga Peulich MLC, Member for South Eastern Metropolitan Region:
“These figures are extremely alarming and totally unacceptable. While the Andrews Labor Government is in disarray and facing its own serious police investigations, this Kirner-esque Government, with its ‘soft on crime approach’, has completely lost control and the community is paying the price. Crime up 20% and they still refuse to recruit any new police!
“It is rare to find a situation where the words like ‘crisis’ and ‘disarray’ are massive understatements. A 20% crime jump demands urgent Ministerial intervention or for the Minister to be sacked.
“The police are doing the best they can. They simply need more local members… which would help reduce unemployment too.
“Labor takes Casey completely for granted. It is urgent that local Labor MPs finally stand up for the community and demand more police resources.
