The Coalition strongly supported the development of the precinct including the FIAV office and establishment of the Indian museum. The City of Greater Dandenong has also been a strong supporter of the precinct.
Quotes attributed to Inga Peulich MLC, Shadow Minister for Multicultural Affairs:
I am pleased that Dandenong will finally get the much anticipated Indian Cultural Precinct that was first touted by the Coalition in 2010.
Greater Dandenong has the largest Indian and South Asian community in Australia and hopefully the government did not spend all of the $500,000 on concluding what was obvious from day 1.
I welcome the commitment to consider establishing an Indian Precinct in Wyndham given the growth of the Indian community in the West and invite the government to outline time frames, the processes, and funding allocation to make this happen.
The Andrews Government should release all of the documents surrounding a lengthy and costly process surrounding this most logical decision.
