Bore pumps which flushed water through the man-made lakes, were turned off in March 2015 at the end of a three-year trial funded by the former Liberal/National Coalition.
State Member for South East Metropolitan Region, Inga Peulich has met with President of the Patterson Lakes-Quiet Lakes Owners and Residents Association Anthony Moffatt, and is calling for the State Government to intervene.
Quotes attributable to Inga Peulich MLC, Member for South Eastern Metropolitan Region:
“Residents should not be subjected to hazardous and toxic blue-green alga blooms in the Quiet Lakes.
“Daniel Andrews, Environment Minister Lisa Neville and Carrum MP Sonya Kilkenny are failing to protect residents from these potentially harmful blooms.
“The State Labor Government must order Melbourne Water to switch bore pumps back on and conduct regular testing to maintain water quality.
“Under the Napthine Liberal/National Coalition the bore pumps were switched on, protecting residents and preserving this amenity.
“Residents are sick of the inaction and constant battle with Melbourne Water and are petitioning the State Government to come to an immediate resolution.
