Last week in parliament, Ms Peulich called on the Minister for Education, James Merlino, to take action necessary to address this zoning impasse which is hurting local families.
The former Liberal/National Coalition government funding for Parkdale Secondary College
- $5.5million in 2011 for new facilities and renovations;
- $780,000 in 2011 for a bus interchange in school grounds;
- $1.5 million in 2012 to construct the Parkdale Integrated Children’s Hub on the site; and
- $100,000 in 2012 to expand the schools elite sports program;
Parkdale Secondary College has attracted increasing enrolments and now needs more funding for expansion and renewal of classrooms to keep up with demand.
Under Victorian parliamentary Upper House sessional orders, the Minister for Education James Merlino must respond to Ms Peulich in writing within 30 days.
Quotes attributed to Inga Peulich MLC, Member for South Eastern Metropolitan Region:
“Education Minister James Merlino and the Andrews Labor Government must act to address the zoning issues which is causing concern in the community and which excludes part of the very suburb in which the school is found – Parkdale.”
“The Andrews Labor Government must provide the funds to continue the school’s renewal to keep up with a growing student population.”
