Inga Peulich, Member for the South Eastern Metropolitan Region and Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Communities is pleased to announce that grants are now available for multicultural festivals and events by non-for-profit organisations and council bodies.

“The multicultural festival and events grants help to provide financial support for major festivals, conferences or special ethnic community events that aim to encourage participation of the whole community in celebrating and valuing cultural diversity,” Ms Peulich said.

“The grants will help support our multicultural heritage, help foster cross cultural exchanges, and showcase Victoria’s culturally and linguistically diverse communities.”

“Victorians from culturally diverse backgrounds contribute significantly to the social, cultural and economic affairs of our state and I urge all multicultural groups and organisations that require financial assistance for the use of community festivals or events to apply for the grant,” Ms Peulich said.

“With Cultural Diversity Week beginning on 14 March 2010, this is the ideal time to start planning your organisations next multicultural event.”

Further information and copies of the grants application form are available at www.ingapeulich.org and must be submitted to the Victorian Multicultural Commission by 4pm Friday 12 March 2010.
